Ceramic, Tile & Granite Adhesives

C1 class adhesives (e.g. Teknofay) are standard cementitious adhesives suitable for small to medium ceramic tiles on interior walls and floors. C2 class adhesives (e.g. Teknofay Ex, Teknofay Flex) are improved performance adhesives providing double the tensile adhesion strength, essential for porcelain, large format tiles, exterior facades, and wet areas.

According to EN 12004, S1 indicates a flexible adhesive capable of 2.5 mm to 5 mm transverse deformation (e.g. Teknofay Flex), ideal for underfloor heating and balconies. S2 indicates a highly deformable adhesive capable of >= 5 mm deformation (e.g. Teknofay Superflex), mandatory for facades, swimming pools, and vibrating industrial floors.

Standard adhesives offer an open time of 20 minutes and pot life of 3 to 4 hours at +23°C. For extended open time requirements, "E" designated products (e.g. Teknofay Plus, Teknofay Ex C2TE) provide at least 30 minutes of open time.

Yes, existing tiles must first be cleaned of grease and scale, then primed with quartz-filled Teknolatex 300 bonding promoter before applying a C2TE S1/S2 adhesive.

For standard adhesives, allow 8 hours on wall applications and 24 hours on floors before grouting with Teknoderz. When using rapid-setting adhesives (Teknofay Rapid), grouting can begin after 3 to 4 hours.
